Nice to see him doing something Danny
The light wasn't doing you any favours was it - bit harsh
It's just given you some blown highlights in the cheek.
Perhaps a dose of Noise Ninja or the like might reduce the noise in the BG.
But there's loads of sharp detail in there considering the lens - nice one

Yes -agree with Andy.
I reckon Great Tit's can be a pain as far as exposeure goes. One thing I find that helps is dropping the in camera contrast and under exposing a tad. You can always mess about afterwards.

Hi Dan,
Nice capture! It certainly looks harsh light to me! I always have a problem with my white in these lighting conditions.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I agree the lighting was a bit harsh, all my photos from that session were either in the shade or in the bright light.
Andy, i haven't had a chance to use noise ninja yet. I've just switched to Mac, so I'm trying out a number of different editing programs, including CaptureNX, Lightroom and Capture One. Unfortunately none of these, as far as i can tell, have the ability to selectively target the background for noise reduction. If i run it over the whole image i loose to much detail... Hopefully the new Mac version of Photoshop elements will do the trick.
