Buying All Rights to an Image

I am just wondering, if someone were to approach you and ask to buy all the rights to any specific image you have, meaning once you sell the image and the rights to the customer. You are bound by law to delete the image, and never ever make another print or sale to anyone....

at what price would you value any given image you own today......

if you were to sell it, what would be your price......

If it was one of my "Mark Hudon Select" photos I wouldn't sell it for less than ten grand.

My stock agency negotiated such a sale on my behalf about 10 years ago for $25,000.

That was during a time when RM sales were bringing top dollar. There are so many variables affecting pricing in today's market that I would be hard pressed to get that kind of return again. A major factor in your pricing decision is what you are doing with your images. If they are a source of current and potential income then set price accordingly cuz once you hand over those rights it is no longer yours and you won't see another dime from that image. If you are a weekend shooter whose only interest is displaying on the web then you may be more inclined to settle for (a little) less.

I would probably ask what their budget allowed and if it seems good to you then go for it.
