I haven't had a lot of time to post or review posts on this forum lately (though I have viewed them all), but I did get out last night and take a few pictures...

Hi Tim, I'm a newer member here it's nice to see someone returning and sharing again.
As for your image, I think the composition is very nice. The lightness of the foreground rock and the leading light to the brighter sky draws my attention into the image very well.
Just an observation, what I believe is a jet stream in the sky seems to be distracting, it could probably be cloned out. For me anyway I think that would improve on a already very nice image. Nice job, thanks for sharing again.
Hey Tim It's good to hear from you. It's great you were able to get out and do some shooting. It is a very nice image also the blend is very good. I know your more of a B/W image guy I was just wondering how much color is in that beautiful sky.
Tim, nice shot and glad you were able to post. Did you get any snow shots last week?

I like the glow of the foreground rock, and my eye travels through the shot much the same way as Brad described. Love the reflective quality of the water, and the play of light and shadow. Nice job, Tim.
Thanks for posting Tim. I haven't lived in Springfield for 10 years but spent a lot of time at this lake when I did.
Nice look. Is it evil to clone out the contrail?

Great to hear you got out for a change, even if it was for only a little while. It's always nice to see your images, especially since I'm starting to look a little closer to what b/w has to offer.
In this shot I especially like the light on the foreground rock. Hope to see more from you soon.

Thanks for the comments, everyone. Now that I've seen this on a few different monitors, I see some unacceptable noise in the lower left along with a branch sticking into the picture that I didn't know was there! Easily correctable, though.
Brad and Ed - the con trail didn't bother me, and in fact in the B&W version, I emphasized it. Can't tell you why, but I thought it needed to be in there. As far as I'm concerned no edits are evil - I just chose not to make this one.
Tom - not a flake of snow here last week, so no snow pictures
Gale - I did process this in color first, but wanted the mood of B&W. I've included the color version here for comparison (the color has been enhanced quite a bit). At some time in the future, I could see myself moving entirely to B&W.
A very nice, relaxing mood to this, Tim. Did you take a fishing pole?

Uh - let me rephrase my statement above that "no edits are evil". I assert that this is true as long as you're not trying to represent something factual or historical in a journalistic sense. Editing in that kind of image is usually cause for dismissal for journalists, and with good reason. We're not journalists here and it was in this context that I made my statement.
No fishing pole, Bill! They were about to start chasing folks out of the parking lot when I left - I guess I'll have to stop using the official parking lot.

Nice work Tim. I like the color one a bit better. The contrail is a bit distracting, too bad they always seem to be around nowadays.
