Have any of you photographed Mossbrae Falls near Dunsmuir? If so, do you have any opinions as to the best time of year to photograph the area?

Thanks,
Greg

I would say late spring. Summer would probably have the most water but it is ridiculously hot and dry. I went through a whole 24 pack of water just from camping overnight because I coudln't keep hydrated. I only had to use the restroom once during that time...

Hi Greg,
I would tend to agree....probably April in the middle to late....
depends what weather the next month brings.....
I am not sure by what I read which way it faces? East or West?
If anyone knows and could add that info, it would be appreciated..
There is a hiking trail that is about a mile long along the Union Pacific Railroad to the falls.
Here is a good VR view of the place....

and another site with more info.....

Hope this helps a bit....

Be sure to show us what you come home with and report back....
or maybe some of us could meet you up there?

in gratitude,
Nelcha

The falls flow year round so I wouldn't worry too much about the time of year. My last trip there was in late June. I went early in the morning to avoid people and catch the falls before the sun reached them. At that hour I didn't need to worry about the heat. IIRC they face generally west, but there are hills on either side of the river obscuring the sun.

Thanks for the info, folks. I'll definitely report back with what I find. I'll also share photos, assuming they're not crap!
