Foound this lovely Barn Owl snoozing in bright sunlight.
He was not one bit bothered by my prescence and remained like this for quite some time.
This is not a captive bird but one of the many locally ringed each year, throughout the area.

Lovely shot, Major, the background really compliments the subject.
Oddly enough, I also came across one snoozing yesterday - I'm guessing, as barn owl numbers have dropped over the past few weeks, that the winter visitors have gone back home and the locals are relishing the peace and quiet!
Wonderful light and colors. Not too happy about the ring though...

Neither am I Helge could have cloned it I suppose.
Round here at least every other one has a ring on it. Each year a gent from North Norfolk does the rounds to all the known boxes. I sometimes wonder if it is necessary.
I have one image where there is injury to the leg that has been ringed and can only assume that the ring has been caught up in something. Not nice.
