Picked up a photography friend this morning and went out to shoot some more wildflowers. We decided on Old Stage Road east of Ducor, CA.We had some wonderful displays to work with, the lighting came and went with the passing clouds and we stuck it out until it became windy and started to rain. All in all a great day!

Canon 40D, Canon 17-40mm "L"

Michael, I really like the low and angle of view and the shortened DOF in this image. From this level I can almost smell the spring season here. A very fine classic Cailfornia Poppy scene overall. :toast:

the patch in the back seems more interesting, as the middle is suprisingly empty. Is Ducor in the east bay?

oops nevermind, I thought this was Lon's photo. Southern Sierra more likely I'm guessing?

Thanks guys! Richard, It was the "S" curve of orange flowers (poppies) that caught my eye. Ducor (population 504) is about 30 min. North of Bakersfield on Highway 65.

Now I see it. nice find Michael. in that case, I think the S would be more prominent if that first flower in front were cropped because even while looking at the S, I can see it standing out by itself in my peripheral vision.

Very nice, Michael. This composition not only shows the the detail in the foreground flowers, but also offers a wider view of what the general area looked like.

Poppies are some of my prefered flowers, because they are delicate, flutter with the wind and can only live free or die.

In europe, they are red... i wish you would have been even closer to the front flowers!

Classic angle, nice shot... While at it I'd crop the (almost distracting) trunks at the top or increase the background blur in PS [nitpick].
