Nuthatch, a first for me!
Hi all
Not posted for a couple of weeks as i've not been able to get out & about. However i did manage to spent yesterday in and around mid Wales. I have been trying to find a road which takes you passed a lot of old slate workings. I want to try some B&W shots. I've been on it before and was sure it was marked "scenic route" and was on the way to Aberystwyth. Still couldn't find it though!!!! Any ideas?
Anyway this is my 1st Nuthatch & was taken at the Bwlch Nant yr Arian centre which is owned by the Forestry Commission, & is set in a stunning lakeside setting overlooking the Melindwr Valley. They also feed the Red Kite's across the lake from the centre all year round, at 2.00pm in the winter and 3.00pm in the summer. During the winter months, you can see up to a hundred kites i was told reeling around and even in summer, they number up to 40. I counted about 15-17 yesterday, but it was pouring down! (nothing new there then!)

Canon 1DSMKIII
EF500mm + 1.4
ISO 1250 (as the light was awful, i also have to say that at these speeds the Canon is no way near as good as the new Nikon's!!!!)
F7.1
1/200sec
C1 v4.01 & CS3

Sorry to go on a bit, but all comments welcome.

Hi Kevin,

Nice capture! I like the perch, it makes a change to the standard stick!

Nice one Kevin, I think it might stand darkening down a little, but a beauty none the less.
