Found myself doing BOAS again, still it's relaxing. I had stuck some flapjack in a tree but the nuthatch didn't spot it unlike the great tits.

Hi Tim,

Very nice capture! I like the smooth background, interesting perch, composition and pose.

very nice and a great looking perch. I'm not sure I could part with flapjack quite so easily, our birds have to make do with seed and peanuts

Yes, very nice composition and perch and pose of your bird.
On my monitor the green on the lower part of the perch looks rather sickly but it could easily be the colours of my screen and I shall see what others feel about that.
How do you like your D3?! and it being f frame. Is the tracking as outstanding as people say it is?

Hi Tim, a very nice different perch for a Nuthatch. I think Paula is right, could be a yellow cast ? :wavey:

Hi Paula,
I'm processing on a uncalibrated Macbook pro laptop so probably my colours aren't up to scratch, getting Eizo colouredge in a few weeks.
I'm very happy with the D3, all I need is wildlife to line up and perform accordingly. There are so many reviews of it now which state its great and they are accurate. Full frame is a new experience for me but no problem, its just like a lens change, I still have my D2X so its there if more reach is required (I've shot 16 pics with it in 7 weeks). Flight shots are a doddle, just locate the bird and fire, the limiting factor is your reactions. With auto ISO from 200-6400 you can work in manual and not worry about metering. I've set my WB onto sunlight as auto didn't seem right to me but maybe when I get my new monitor that will change.
The pic above I did using D2X 2 colour mode, for no particular reason only curiosity as some had been piping on about it, and I did increase saturation. You should try one out, you will be impressed as loads of others have.

very nice perch 'n' pose, great shot

Darkened the monitor again a bit more and the moss looks better!
D3...oh yes, it sounds just to dye for and I played with one at a Nikon day in London.
Getting the wildlife to line up and do its thing is another matter still and after visiting my son in Brasil and going to the Pantanal I am finding it quite a struggle in this country...The grass (or moss) is always greener some place else, I know!
It is the money that stops me getting that gorgeous camera just yet, I hope the price will come down a bit before I have the chance to go somewhere special again, probably not till the end of the year.
