My present tent which was blue was demolished by high winds, so I am in need of a new one. I have been told that many shows require white, so can anyone advise me as to which one I should purchase. This white hut EZup http://www.hutshop.com/babaupspopr.html intrest me and I like the sale price,$399.99, but I am not sure that it will be sturdy enough and easy enough to put up and take down. Since I am 105 years old I need one that is easy putting up and taking down. Just kidding, but not about the easy part. Your advise would be so much appreciated.
Hey Jackie, one of the easy tents to set up, and is built sturdy for wind and rain is the Light- Dome canopy (about $850.00) www.lightdomecanopies.com They also make another one called the finale but it has a different roof and a few more parts. As Jeffrey pointed out, Flourish also make a good sturdy tent. I have used the Light-Dome and it has worked great. The EZ Ups are cheap but don't with stand the weather very well, I've help many artist bale out there booth after a good rain as the tops will sometimes leak, and if high wind hit the show most the the tents that blow over are the EZ UPs. You get what you pay for. You can get by with the EZ UP but make sure you stake it, or weight it down really well, and cover your stuff at night in case it rains and you get a leak.
Another vote for Flourish! These folks also know what the words "customer service" mean. The guy that actually designs/builds the tents stopped at my booth one day and asked if I had any gripes. I told him about the awning bars being 2" too short on the newer tents. He had me call the company after the show. To make a long story short, they custom built new awning bars and shipped them to me within a week - at NO CHARGE.
I've had two of these tents for over 7 years now. They are worth every penny if you have any type of weather. I've been in 80mph gusts, white out hail conditions, and torrential rain with no losses whatsoever.
I have a friend who has a brand new one that he's going to sell since he's moving to Alaska, drop me an email and I'll put you in touch with him if you're interested.
I've used a Light-Dome and have had good luck with it including an awesome Colorado thunderstorm with hail and high winds. The tent held up well and protected my work.
I've used a flourish Dome tent for years and it has never let me down. Be sure to order the stay bars if you get one. If your not sure you want to stay in the show end of the business then get an EZ-up. You can get one at Sam's Club for $199. with 4 sides. If you use the EZ up make sure you get some PCV pipe and fill them with cement and use them for weights attached to the legs of the tent. Most parks will not allow you to drive stakes in the ground.
You can also order stay bars from Flourish for your EZ up tent. This helps tremendously to stabilize the tent! Also if you use an EZ up get some large clamps and clamp the corners of your tent on the outside at night. If it rains the clamps will prevent the tent from sagging.
Also get a white tent. A color tent will reflect onto your framed photographs and distort the color of your images.
