Can any of you post processing gurus out there advise? Having tried to upload my first image for some months, I am finding that the results, once viewed on line, are quite heavily over saturated - quite lurid, in fact. I am processing RAW images from the D300 in CS3 and saving the reduced images as JPEGs in sRGB. I have been playing around with the same image for the past hour or so, using my portfolio and, while definitely improved from the version posted earlier today, it still differs from the originals both in colour and intensity.
1) You don't have Soft proofing turned on (Check under View->Proof Colors - it should be unticked).
2) If you're doing a manual save (not save for web) then make sure you are doing a 'Convert to profile' and not an 'assign profile'.
3) If you're doing Save for web, then you can select different 'preview' options - there's a little disclosure triangle (a circle with an arrowhead in it) at the top right of the image preview (hovering the mouse over it says 'preview menu'). You can select to preview how it will appear in a web browser...this should normally be set on something like 'standard windows colour' or 'uncompensated colour' - change it and you should see the save-for-web preview change slightly too...

Thanks Nick - I hadn't found the preview options in 'save to web.' That's it sorted.
