Hi,
I recently made the mistake of putting WD40 on the leg sections of my tripod, in the hope that they open easier particularly when speading the tripod for low level work.
However, they now open far too easily and open all of their own accord and there is no longer any friction to keep them shut.
Does anybody know the best course of action to take? I didn't just want to rip it apart in case I couldn't get it back together.
TIA
Chris.

Since the legs are held in place by friction I'd reckon the only coarse of action is to take the thing apart. This is not a difficult job. Just don't loose the screws or the flimsy collars!

I've dismantled mine and cleaned it without any problems.

I often take my G1548 apart after it has been standing in the sea - a simple job just laborious!
