I have been contacted by an Ad agency out of Austin, TX about using some of my images. They are doing high end brochures (2000 copies) and a couple of other promotional items for a new community on Lake Oconee (Georgia) where I live. She wants a flat rate of what the cost would be and I'm guessing that they would want to use about 4 or 5 of my images (not exactly sure yet). Basically, I'm clueless on what to charge or ask for and how this type of transaction works.
Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I will be speaking to the agency sometime today or tomorrow.
Thanks
Wade

Buy fotoQuote for $140. This deal alone will pay for it.
I work with agencies all the time but for assignment work. I would consider what it would cost them to hire a photographer and crew to go out and shoot these images. I have no idea what the images consist of, but I am assuming it would take at least a few days. If they called us at our commercial studio... an approx 2 day shoot would be approx. 18k. This is a rough number - could be more. However,i would think your images would be at least 1k each. They could not shoot it anywhere for less. And you know they already like your images.
Hope this helps,
Michele

Wade, here's a link to a "free" pricing program.

It's been good to me.

Just an addition to the recommendation for Fotoquote. The program is not merely a pricing calculator. It also contains a ton of advice and information on licensing images. From pricing strategies, to negotiations, to a script to follow when getting calls such as the one you just got. It's called the "Coach" section and you'll learn a whole lot by just reading those tips.
