I just sent the following out to my newsletter and Jim E. suggested I post it here for all.
"I just wanted to take moment to send my congratulations to long time friend and tour client Charlie Robertson. I just found out that Charlie has been honored for his GRAND PRIZE winning photo in the Nature Conservancy Photo contest.
Charlie is a hard working intense nature photographer from south Texas. Charlie and his inspirational wife Paula are veterans of several trips with us. Seeing this image brings back the memories of that evening when we were heading back to camp after curfew. We were watching for elephants silhouetted in front of Kilimanjaro when someone (it may have been Paula) shouted above the roar of the Land Rover. "Stop, we have to get this shot." We all fired away. The rest is now in print with this great provocative image.

Thanks!!
I do remember that evening when we were on our way back to the camp because we were in such a big hurry due to being past curfew that we barely had time to stop and shoot! Good thing I had a camera body with the 24-105 lens on it, because there was no chance to switch lens!
Thanks to Jess and our guides we had an unforgettable experience and literally thousands of wonderful photo opportunities, traveling for three weeks to Amboseli, Samburu, Lake Nakuru, and the Masai Mara. Paula and I are always looking forward to the day we can return to Kenya! If you want to see what kind of a trip we had, please visit our galleries at www.pbase.com/chasrob .
