First post ... snow bunting

After looking in here for some while, it’s time to take the plunge with a first post, so here is a snow bunting photographed on a recent trip to Norfolk. Thanks for looking.

Canon 40D + 500mm. 1/1000sec at f/7.1 and ISO200.
Routine adjustments in Lightroom with ~30% crop from top and sides. I suspect I need to tone down the large pale pebble in the foreground .. ?

Great thanks to Andy Astbury for being good enough to look through a handful of my images and for pointing me in the right direction in what then turned out to be a two hour telephone tutorial!!

It's a well exposed and nicely composed image Dave :toast:

I must admit to being a bit surprised you chose this one to post - the other one is nicer imho because it's not head-on :cool:

But this is still a really nice image and a great first post with a nice OoF BG and just the right amount of OoF FG - and I can see feet too which is always a bonus :wavey: :wavey:

Nice to see you've finally posted - it wasn't all that painful now was it :razz: :razz:

And another welcome from me too, not a bad first post at all, as Andy says the "facing the camera" pose is not quite as good as one with the head turned and an eye showing nicely, but the exposure, colours and PP look good, well done!

Welcome Dave, I've only been posting on here for a few weeks myself and I know it really helps to have other like minded photographers passing comment. The good ones are encouraging and the not so good ones help us to improve.
Nice shot, never seen one of these.

Dave, Nice shot! I was suprised to see my name in print. I'm also a David Bartlett. I shoot mainly florals / macros. I just joined NPN a couple a weeks ago and haven't posted anything yet. Keep'em coming! Looking forward to seeing more great postings.
