Red Grouse (with repost)
I had a trip to a well known North Yorkshire Grouse moor last weekend. The weather was a little unkind - particularly the bit where it threw it down with sleet from 6:30 - 10:30. Anyway I came up with this - I'm not overjoyed with the OOF foreground, but otherwise what do you think?

Canon 40D, Sigma 500/4.5, beanbag on car window, 1/320 f4.5

I like it Gary, I think it could be just a touch darker but that may just be how it appears on my monitor. As for the foreground, I reckon that just puts the bird in context and so I don't mind that at all.

Hi Gary , I think it's a nice shot , I don't mind the OOF foreground and the comp is good , colours look a little washed out though.

Andy...

Pretty bird - you might like to push the saturation and contrast up a bit. Gotta love the leg warmers too .

If you think the weather was unkind then...you should try it now - the snow is going past horizontally!

Yes - nice. I agree could do to be a little more "beefy".
Cheers

I very much like the bird's pose and those stockings are just great, which I had some!
The rest has been said. Would it be too bad to clone out the oof stuff?

Another go - hopefully with added "oomph"!

Gary,

Much prefer the second image - for me it has much more punch. As for the weather - was up in the midlands today and ended up being unable to feel my nose, fingers, toes or most of the rest of my anatomy!

Thanks for sharing

Adrian

Looks great to me and I didn't notice the OOF stuff. I prefer the first post - perhaps somewhere between the two would be best?
