It's not often that I photograph landscapes under the mid-day sun. This early afternoon at Sparks Lake was an exception as the light stayed soft and the clouds made for the perfect mountain scene to go along with the yellow flowers that come up in the summer. This was actually taken from a kayak as I paddled around a little island at the lake.

Wow! Love the vivid colors. I like this shot. I also think that a crop into a pano might look cool too.
Thanks Mary...I think I agree on the pano idea to balance it out a bit...might have to try that.
Thanks for the tip!!

Great shot for mid-day sun, Khristian. I love the big pillowy clouds. It reminds me of big sky country. Though I'm a big fan of saturation, my preference in this shot would be to desaturate the blues an yellows just a bit.

Beautiful shot, Khristian! You've brought some nice pics back from the Three Sisters area. I actually like the low horizon just fine - very Ansel Adams in composition. I'd agree with pulling back on the saturation a bit, and it looks a tiny bit tilted to the left -- maybe a half a degree or so, judging by the far shoreline of the lake.
Very nice!

I love this shot...love the vivid colors. I also like the idea of the pano here. This goes to show you can break the rules of midday light sometimes. Good catch on the tilt Tom, I almost didn't see it.

This image is quite appealing to me. The vivid colors, made more so by the midday light, really grabs the viewer. I've always felt that the light other than in the "golden hours" can be well taken advantage of if done with care and I think your photo shows this.

Beautiful shot in every way! I love the colors of the flower field, the lake and the mtns and the big puffy clouds! You should be very happy with this image. The fact that you pulled it off mid day is also impressive.
But I am a little confused about the time of the year. When was this taken? You mentioned the summer flower fields. Was this last summer?
Thanks for the comments and advice everyone! Derek: This was from last summer as I am just going through some old folders and seeing what I can find. I agree I probobly should bring down the saturation a tad on the blues. Hopefully I can get back to Oregon soon so I can start posting some fresh work!
