I'm going ro be visiting Florida (Orlando base) on a family vacation over the next fortnight, but as a serious nature photographer (ie it's full-time) who doesn't know the area but has negotiated a couple of mornings/days out where can you guys recommend for an early morning or two within sensible travelling distance?
I really wanted to make my way to Ding Darling but it looks too far to do justice in a day - am I right?
Many thanks in anticipation of any help and advice.

Sorry, Mark, I have no real info on Florida, but I hope you have a good time. Maybe some FL folks will spot the thread. Years ago I went conoeing in a waterway that started with a very clear spring as its source. There was some wildlife there, too. I don't remember which one it was. There are several springs in the area.
I'm from Virginia so I'm not really familiar with the Florida. However every few years I go to Orlando with my family and usually get a day to myself with my camera. I discovered an area called Orlando Wetlands Park. It's on hwy 50 east of Orlando in the community of Christmas, Fl. You have to park and walk but it's a great walk. The walking trails are actually roads that are not open to the public along the levies dividing the water impoundments. During the month of May I usually see a variety of hawks, Ospreys, Eagles, and lots of wading birds. Also gators, otters, raccoons and more.
Also in May, Gatorland is great for nesting birds.
