After the floods in the Boxley Valley this past week I was hoping my favorite wildflower patch had not gotten washed away. I was pleasantly surprised that they were all high and dry.
I'm always happy to see this Ozark Wake Robin. This little guy is the first wildflower I ever captured in print and I still smile everytime I see one.
The state of Ohio really likes this flower also. Enough to make a variety this Trillium their state wildflower.

Comments welcome.

nice shot Rod, What's in the background?

Gale,
Since this was a very windy day and I used a wind tent with a black insert.
Now that I look at it closer I probably should take out the wrinkle near the bottom.

One of my favorite wildflowers for sure, and you did a great job with this one, it looks perfect. Do you or anyone else know if the blooms turn more purple with age (within a single year)?

This looks like our Western Trillium , and surely is related. The Western's leaves are broader.
Ours does turn purple with a week or two of age.
Cheers!

A beauty Rod. I don't believe I've had the pleasure of seeing one of these in person. I know you used a light tent but is that the cause of the halo around the stem?

BTW, I need to give you a call to tie up some details before the trip next month. Drop me an email to let me know when would be a good time for me to call you.

p.s. give me your number again too, thanks!

Nice one Rod! The dark background really accentuates the details of this flower.
