Elk Image
Now that I know its O.K. to post a wildlife image on this forum here is a photograph I took on the way to Bear Lake a couple of weeks ago.

Looks like there's still plenty of snow there - looks like he's in deep.

It's definitely OK to post photos like this on the forum anytime. Post some more! Nicely done.

Cool shot. Something seems off to me, but cant put my finger on it. The highlites in the snow look white enough, but overall the snow seems dull to me, might be because of the yellow grasses

I like the shot, but I think the white balance is off, a bit too yellow maybe?

Great shot, love the snow sprinkles on its muzzle and back. If this was a cloud diffused sunrise shot, that would explain the yellow cast and the lack of harsh shadows.

Thanks for the input. I also noticed a slight tint on the snow. The conditions I shot the image under was diffused early A.M. light. I'm a rookie when it comes to digital shooting.
I started last fall and my biggest challenges are WB and using software to correct a image.
I've shot slides for over 30 years and won't be getting rid of my film camera anytime soon.

I've read articles on software for correcting WB but have been ignoring it. Any suggestions? I'm currently using Adobe 6.

Wow that is a nice elk. Though there are many ways to correct WB, including Color Balance, and Selective Color, probably the quickest way is with the highlights eyedropper in the Curves panel. When the Curves panel is open, click on the little white eyedropper button, then click on the brightest highlight in the image. This will turn that value white and adjust all the colors accordingly.
