Canon just released a firmware update for the 5D. The added features are (quoted from Canon):

1.It now supports high-capacity CF cards
2.It allows the latest lens names to be recorded in the Exif information of images taken
3.It adds lenses that are compatible with the Digital Photo Professional 3.2 lens aberration correction function

The link to the update can be found here.

I haven't installed it yet, but I think I'll take the plunge tonight. If it blows up, I'll let folks know.

Thanks for the news Paul. I jumped in and installed the firmware upgrade. It went fine. The camera restarted and formatted the card and everything. I don't have any of the new lenses, at least now. I do like the idea that I can use the high-capacity cards that I didn't know that I couldn't use before. I already get the equivalent of 7 rolls of film on my 4 GB cards shooting RAW. Talk about the capability of picture overload!

ok, I flashed mine with the 1.1.1 update, and all is well! Seems to be a safe upgrade.

Dumb question time: What counts as a high capacity card? I have several 8's and assumed that they were usable but since the camera is about 26 hours old, I haven't found that part in the manual.

The Canon site says 8GB and higher... but my 8GB always worked with the 1.1.0 firmware. Hmmm....
