Greater Prairie Chicken stand-off
Here is one from Saturday at the Konza Prairie. Brad and I had bad lighting most of the time, but the sun did come out for a few brief minutes :). 30D, Tamron 200-500mm, probably 1/2 original size after crop because this action was farther out on the lek.

Very interesting, Rob - I like the narrow focal depth with fg and bg blur. An interesting look into a world I don't get to observe!

Very nice job Rob neat shot, it looks great! I think your lens treated you well.
We had a lot of stand offs going on that morning. I'm still talking about it! I had a great time. Thanks for sharing.

What strikes me about this photo is its sharpness and the contrast between the different browns on the prairie chickens and the grass. Very nice photo! Thanks for sharing. - scott

Great work, Rob, especially under such challenging conditions. I would think this would be a difficult shot to pull off since these birds spend most of their life on the ground (in the grass/weeds). The one on the left is especially nice.

Nice capture, Rob. I like the golden hues, and it's just great to see a prairie chicken in such detail. If I may make a suggestion, my eye keeps getting pulled toward the nearly vertical stem between the two birds. You might try blurring it or cloning it out. Thanks for sharing.
