Steller duck take off
The Batsfjord is a great place (weather permitting) for take off images of Steller and King eiders. We chartered a small boat that took us into the fjord. There were ample ducks giving good photographic opportunities.

That looks a BIG duck for those wings Rene, ever likely he needs a run-up  Conditions look somewhat more conducive than in your previous post - nice action image :toast:

Hi Rene,

Superb capture! Love the take-off!

The D3 is holding it's own with high ISO's then. I must say the 200-400mm + 1.4TC & D3 is working great for you and you are having a work out as well, because all that gear you are hand holding weigh's nearly 5kg's (11 lbs in old money!). Tack sharp nonetheless - good old VR!

Thanks for sharing!

If you were bobbing up and down in a boat Rene then you have done well.
VR or not. :toast:

a nice action shot, well captured. The D3 certainly helps you to keep the shutter speed up with its impressive high ISO performance.

Nice shot and some interesting tecnicals to go with it. Wow, you did well handholding that lot and bobbing about in a boat into the bargain.
