Went to my favorite area this weekend. A place I like to call 'the redheaded step child of Utah's national parks,' Capitol Reef. It was cool during the day and cold at night, with photographically uncooperative crystal clear skies, but the beauty more than made up for it. C&C welcome and thanks for looking.

#5 Temple of the Sun - I was trying a slightly different comp than the classic from the other side. Again, thanks for looking.

Jeff, I hope Capitol Reef continues to be considered a "step child".
Looks like you had a GREAT weekend !
I like your #5 Temple of the Sun variation, but wish the base wasn't hidden so much by the foreground rocks.
Maybe a composition from a position a little further to the left ?
I think I prefer clear skies when driving in those Bentonite Hills.

I like 4 and 5. Wonder if the rocks in 5 on the lower right could be lightened a little? Those are some nice colors on Temple of the Sun! Though my photo efforst in Capitol Reef have not been so good, it sure is a great place.

Sweet shots, Jeff. I really like the first and last. The first makes me want to get out there so badly... nice colors and interesting scene despite the clear sky. Great light on the last shot.

Love #4, really like the subtle colors and shapes. Also really like #2, the composition was very well seen.

Nice collection! I like the flow of the Bentonite Hills shot. The last one is interesting, but it looks a little soft and over-saturated to me. The image also looks tilted CCW, but that could be the lay of the land.

Very nice work, Jeff. I like #s 1,2,3,4 and 5! I'm really looking forward to a return visit there...hopefully this spring. Bummer about the clear skies, but it looks like you made the best of it.

you got a nice series Jeff. The Bentonite patterns are all very nice.

Like them a lot, Jeff; the Bentonite shots are esp. good - I'm partial to #4.
Todd, the sun really lights up those temples at first light. I always worry that I'm over-saturating my shots from there, but my Velvia 100F scans came out almost this saturated right out of the box, so I know it's natural...

Good shots. I need to get to Bentonite sometime. I like the last two best. I think #2 is almost a really great shot, but it doesn't quite work for me here. It's hard to say w/out being there, but maybe just getting down lower could give this a more 3-dimensional feel and more interesting foreground.

Great stuff Jeff! Can't wait to get out that way myself! Thanks for sharing!

Jeff......you have an excellent eye for the unusual!!! Great light on the last one everone of them are killers when it comes composition!!! Beautiful work!! regards, Rajeev.
Solid collection of images, Jeff. #1 is quite a view and I'm really liking #4. As a redhead myself, I might've taken offense at your comment ( ), but I've been there - while there are people practically swarming through every other park in S. Utah, it was crickets in Capitol Reef.

Thanks everyone for your comments, I appreciate them all. No hiking for me this weekend as I am way to sore from a vicious racquetball game the other day!
