Guys: I asked for your tips and advice a couple of weeks ago as I was emerging for a short 4-days trip to Utah and was blessed with tons of great suggestions from you all. Thanks a lot - they were very helpful.

Though this was not my first trip to Utah/Nevada area, but I have never made such a photographic journey before. So, armed with your tips and some hard work (hiking and camping), I made good use of my time.

Thanks again and if you are curious, you can check the images in my website...

and then go into "New images"

I have posted some of these in the NPN forums and will do so in future too

Looks like you had a productive 4 days. #22 and #38 are my favorites. You also have some of the best shots and best light I've seen from Peek-a-Boo. What time of day were you there?

I agree with Grant about your Peek-a-Boo shots, It was bright sunshine and harsh shadows when I was there. You must have had some strong diffused light to get the bright glow exhibited. There were a couple of places I didn't recognize, so maybe we (or at least I ) should be asking you for tips on where to go. Great job and really enjoyed seeing your results!

Awesome collection Arnab!!! What a four days you had! #'s 29 and 38 are my faves! I'm headed out there next week for four days also, and if I come back with half that many good shots, I'll be a happy man!!

Excellent shots from Peek-a-Boo! It's almost a different canyon from other shots I've seen.

Glad you had a good trip.

Thanks guys.

I spent a lot of time on peek-a-boo - after arriving before noon, I hung around till late afternoon until I was happy with the light - hiking back and forth inside for many times. I pretty much skipped photographying Spooky and focused on one canyon as I saw more interesting possibilities there.
Don:which place looks unknown to you? Let me know

I covered Kodachrome SP, Escalante (Hole-in-the-rock/Dry Fork), Calf creek near Boulder, hiked to the bottom of Bryce, went to Zion just for the sun rise (which never happened), and then spent an awesome evening in Valley of fire - I know it wss very hectic for 4 days and I was hiking all the time with my heavy pack. Actually lost 4-5lbs in 4 days - the trip was good in many ways

Thought I recognized that swiss cheese from Valley of Fire...

What did you consider the best lighting in Peek-a-Boo? Sounds like late afternoon was good for you, which is unusual for a slot canyon.

I wont say that Les - mid-day to early afternoon was ideal - depending on which part of the canyon you shoot. My photos of the same part of the canyon were starkly different depending on the hours between that time

The ones I'm not sure about are #5(Peek-a-boo?), if it is I guess I just don't remember it, and 32 (Valleyof Fire?, I've never been there) and 36 (similar to some Capitol Reef stuff I've photographed but yours has a much warmer tone).

Don: #5 from peek-a-boo, both #32 and 36 from Valley of fire

Very nice work Arnab! Looked like a pretty fulfilling four days. #32 Jurassic is probably my favorite, but as usual that is subject to change, and the light and timing on #26 Thor's Hammer was excellent.
