Just messing around with a crop of an image I took once of Shepperds Dell.

hmmm...I've seen this somewhere b4...awwww yes, I got it...ESS :biggrin: . I liked the shot when you first posted it. This crop works but maybe you could post the other uncropped version so we can compare?

I like the light and shadow in the greens, nice and 'clumpy' looking. I'll leave the detailed words to the ones who know them :)

The textures from all the tree leaves is what caught my eye in this image, Ned. Really cool. The falls is a nice touch, too. :wink:

Ned, my only critique for this one would be that it lacks depth - very 2 dimensional due to the perspective and focal length, when we as photographers usually strive to create more of a 3D sensation. I think it still works because the eye bounces around through a nicely balanced scene.

I've admired this image for a long time, Ned - saw your wider crop last year, and shamelessly went to attempt my own version! On Marc's comment, the wider crop brings in a lot more depth, and thus it's probably my favorite. But what I like about this shot the most is the almost abstract look that the various leaf patterns create. It's really quite beautiful and would make a terrific art print. BTW, when I did go up there, I had a similarly still day -- something that Gorge junkies don't take for granted, and definitely makes this image a looker!

To me, the most interesting aspect is the amazing shape of the water as it spreads into the bottom pool. I think a horizontal crop just above the fan works too;
