I plan to be at Magee the second weekend of May (10-11). Do we have interest in a general meeting that weekend?

Warblers in the morning, captive raptors for lunch, more warblers, dinner. Then more warblers Sunday!

Wish I could be there, Dan...sounds like a fun weekend!

I am hoping to be up around Magee the following week but it doesn't look like I will be able to make it Sat/Sun. If anyone plans on being there during the week let me know.

Hi Dan,

Is there a schedule of events for that weekend that you can point us to? I'm close enough, I might come up for a day. I don't have equipment suited to shooting birds, but it looks like a cool place to explore.

Normally, Saturday has a fair number of activities run by the park and local groups. The main ones I have photographed are the banding and the raptor/snake displays.

Usually, though, a schedule of events is very findable about 8 weeks out. Not this year - I've done a fair number of searches. I've seen references to events, but nothing set in stone. Certainly nothing I'd drive across the state for on speculation.

If anyone knows of a schedule of activities, please post one.

For areas to explore, in early May it really isn't too exciting there. Flat. It makes Cleveland look like the Rockies. Foliage is pretty sparse and the main activity outside of Toledo is the birding. Toledo has a nice botanical garden which I need to get to one of these days, a good zoo and nearby, a summer butterfly house.

In any event (or in this case, no events), I should be there.

Dan,

I just sent an email on behalf of MWNP to Mary Warren, the naturalist at Magee Marsh. I'll let you know if I receive any useful information.

Mary Warren says that info on the events for May 10 will be posted here later this week. I assume they will be under the calendar button.

There's a little more info here but nothing I would call a complete schedule of events.

Chuck, thanks for posting the links. I've been keeping an eye out on those and a few others including the park website, but I still haven't seen anything definite.
