My what big eyes you have(all the better to see you with dear)+ number two.
D2X + 300mm AFS 2.8 + 1.4 conv.
Hand held.

Bye now I am able to spot a lot of low lying Hares at quite away off, but take your eyes off the subject all be it momentarily and they just blend into the soil.
This one was not so far away when I pulled up so sat and watched for a while. Decided I would just see if I could approach any closer. Started to walk directly towards it and to my surpise it didnt move.
I had left my camera in the vehicle so I walked backwards to grab it from the vehicle. Made my second approach camera at the ready and made this image.

very nice sense of camouflage, when they're lying low they often don't move, i almost stepped on one (literally) once when i didn't see it

Hello Major
Your excellent images not only reflect your undoubted ability with a camera, but, more importantly IMHO, your knowledge of your subjects. Great image!

That's an amazing shot. so different and flawlessly executed. It is surprising just how close you can walk to a hare in its form the trick is to not look directly at them. As long as you don't make eye contact, they will often stay put until you have walked past them. It has never helped me get a shot even close to this though.
