Green Woodpecker
Green Woodpecker drinking. These birds always look wierd when you see them close up. They seem like reptiles- the way they move etc.
D100
Nikor 400mm VR(before I sold it ! )
As was - apart from cropping.

yes - its strange but many bird that are normally shy (Jays ) seem to go in a trance once they get in the water. Wrens especially go frantic.
No idea why.

I am now truly envious of your various ponds and the shots you get! When i make a pond, dozens of fighting duck seems to descend upon it and nothing else!
Another wonderful shot.

Very nice John. The OOF grass is a shame but I'd be happy to get this image regardless. Most envious :toast:

Hi John great picture and the nit has been covered. You must spend some amount of time in hides to get this kind of pictures?

Thanks
Yes ,I wish I had a pound for every hour I sit or have sat in cramped hides. Came out of one on the garden lawn the other day and couldn't straigten up for an hour. Getting too old for this game.

Another great shot, with the only nit mentioned. you do well to make all the shots look so different given that they are often on the same pools.
