Thought I may have a go at starting a traditional forum thread, hope I am not stepping on any toes. If you do not do this kind of thing please let me know and I will delete.
I am sure we all have photos that could of been once in a lifetime shots but even the wonders of Photoshop could not sort out. If so please add to this thread or mark NMBEP to your title.
This shot was taken in the middle of the day in the Kalahari and started with me spotting the Cheater on the other side of the road, it crossed in front of me then started stalking the Bok that were for a long time edging closer. The final chase never happened, on slight movement and the bok were on to him.
The photo was taken with a dusty lens though a mass of grass close to the car window with major heat haze. I have done what i can with photoshop but the Cheater will never be sharp, i must admit that I still like the shot for the memories and think it has an unintentional artistic look about it which will, I think look good on canvas, but not the sharp picture I would have loved to have taken.
One last confession, I did not even push the shutter, set the camera up and handed it to the wife who was on the right side of the car. Everything good about the shot is her work, all the problems I caused.
I would love to see your out of focus falcon kills, wildcats with the head out of shot and well you know the kind of thing
I took this at an Owl sanctury down in Cornwall some years ago, this can look good projected but it's only 1 megapixel and not pin sharp so sadly it just sits on my PC even though it did win me a bottle of Red.
Hello Ian,
I thought this was a great idea for a thread and for what it is worth this one winds me up every time I have a use for the shot it nearly was. I have the bird sailing over the shoal without the fish and I over-panned the bird just as the fish came flying out of the water for this one. Hey ho! keep trying I guess. Eric
