Here is a heads up from the the Arkansas Canoe Club message board. Just thought I will make everyone aware of this in case you are in the Richland Creek area. The landslide is just before you get to Richland Campground:

As of April 1 and this is not a joke.

The roadblock landslide/timberpile is still in place on Falling Water Road. Will take a logging crew to remove all the timber. Couldn't tell how much dirt/rock was under all the timber, but will be a major job to clear it!

FYI, you can still access Falling Water Creek at the primitive campsite next to the road below the bedrock gorge (1.6 miles below the bridge). But paddling Falling Water all the way to the campground will require a 'LONG' shuttle or hiking back.

Thanks for the heads up Tom. I hope they can clear it soon.

There are at least a couple of big trees on top of the road now that have metal blazes on them - these are from the Ozark Highlands Trail. Those trees are at least 100' apart, and the trail used to be at least a couple hundred feet up the hillside - that is how large this slide is! This is the second major slide on this same hillside in recent years. We are also seeing the same type of mud slide on another part of the OHT, just off of Hwy. 23 in between "The Rock House" and the Cherry Bend Trailhead. We always wanted to be like California!
