Heading to Moab in 2 weeks, and just wondering if the wildflowers are in yet.

I too will be there in 2 weeks, I spoke with Bret Edge (resident Moab Expert) he says that there is nothing outstanding about them right now.

I've been at the beginning of May a few times and they've been good. Nothing really past prime, lots of variety. I suspect that will be true at the mid-April time frame too based on what Bret has said.

Flowers were really few and far between last weekend, but I suspect that in a couple weeks as the temps get warmer there should be some emerging.

I went out today looking for wildflowers and there isn't anything of note blooming. The only moderately profuse flowers I've seen are very small purple flowers attached to what looks like King's Crown alongside the roads (not exactly the most photogenic locations). I have no idea what it is and can't find it in my Canyon Country Naturalist's Guide. No lupine, no cactus, no mules ear...nada.

Trees are starting to bud out quite nicely. I'm spending all day on Friday hiking around the western side of Moab and will report any positive findings.

OK, not to be a pest, just wondering if /where the wildflowers are as of this weekend, 4 days until I arrive in Moab so I'm getting a bit excited (to say the least.)
