Hey,
I am heading up to Iowa City next week and was wondering if anyone could help me find some waterfowl in the area? I'm trying to find about any species other than mallards and canadas. The tamer the better! Thank you.
While I don't live there and can't provide you with timely information, I'd suggest that you consider the backwaters of Coralville Reservoir, north of Iowa City. The University of Iowa also has the McBride Field Campus on Lake McBride, which also is north of IC. Also, there are backwaters along the Iowa River south and southeast of IC, maybe closer Mucscatine. I recall some nice places in that area, but am clueless for names.
I was a grad student in Iowa City more than twenty years ago and spent a lot of time at McBride Field Campus, mostly for the peace & quiet. But, that's also where I started to cut my teeth in photography...
