Hi folks,

Adobe yesterday released a BETA version of Lightroom 2.0! Here is a link:

LR V2.0 BETA

Version 2.0 brings dual monitor support and it will run along side of V1.3.1 so ya don't have to bail on your tried and true/stable workflow! It will even adopt many of your current settings from 1.3.1!! It imported all my presets so I didn't have to create those!

The dual monitor support is quite different from the Photoshop paradigm of tear off palettes as you can see in the above image of my dual monitor setup running V2.0 BETA. Download it and see for yourself.

Version two also brings localized dodging and burning and a host of other new features!!

Here's a link to the release notes:

Again take note it will run on your PC/Mac with V1.3.1 without adversely affecting your current catalogs in V1.3.1. It creates its own catalog.

So far after fiddling with it a bit I am VERY impressed!!!

yeah, I was excited to see some new features that I had been wishing for. The brushes are nice, but still not as useful as the good ol' selection tool and layer masks in Photoshop.
The best addition for my workflow was the ability to automatically import exported jpegs back into Lightroom. I don't know how much time I waste creating web-sized images for people to view, and then having to re-import them back into the colleciton in LIghtroom. Also, the Collection Sets function is perfect for separating web versions, and different size print versions.
I'm still really dissapointed with the sharpening, especially since the USM in photoshop has been very effective for 2 releases of PS, if not more.

Soft proofing for printing sure would have been nice. I would even give up dual monitor support for soft proofing and better sharpening. Maybe one of the sharpening plugin developers will create a super sharpening plugin for Lightroom. Some of the web module plugins have been a HUGE help for me!!!

This is basically all the reason I need to go an get that second 24" monitor I've been threatening myself to get for the last year.

Do I hear the sounds of a workshop forming? Could be I'm hearing things, but you never know. What say you, my dear Rick? June or July? or wait until Fall?
