Hi everyone :wavey:
Please excuse me if some of my topics seem a bit ignorant. I really want to know how to create a copyright symbol on CS3... You may or may not have noticed that I never include them in my images. Another NPN member, Christine Adams, told me to hit Alt 0169 on my keyboard, but it didn't work. Do I do this as I add text to the image or is there another way of going about it?.. Boy, do I still have alot to learn.
Also is there a quick and easy way to compress an image for posting it on NPN?
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Rick, you need to hold the alt key down as you're punching 0-1-6-9 on the numeric keypad (not the top-row of number keys) then release the alt key.
If you're on a Mac you can simply use Option-G.

Rick,

Create a text layer. At the insertion point in the 'text box' hit Alt (hold the key down) and type 0169 on the numeric keypad. NumLock must be 'on'.

That should do it.

I usually use 'Save for Web' and adjust 'quality' (compression) until I'm at or below the 200K file size limit. It is quick and easy

Thanks guys... I figured I had to hold the Alt key down. Here's another problem though, I only have a laptop and do not have a numeric keypad on it (just the top row of #'s). Does this mean I'm SOL?

Laptops usually have a key that activates a numeric keypad on the keyboard (look for the digits on the j/k/l/u/i/o keys). You'll need to hold it down at the same time as the alt key.

And if none of these steps work (and assuming you're using Windows), here's another way:
Click on the 'Start' tab at the lower left corner of your screen.
Click on 'Run'.
Type in charmap in the 'Open' window. Click 'OK'.
You should see the copyright symbol in the Character Map field.
Select and copy it.

You can also get the character map program (in windows) through the start menu -- all programs. It is under accessories -- system tools.

This site has an action that creates a copyright brush. It makes the process pretty simple.

The action is listed as "Copyright Brush".
