I took this today when I got tired of doing yard work. It was windy out so the flowers aren't as sharp as I would like, but I like the backlit affect and was wondering what others thought. All comments welcome!

I shoot a lot of flowers. Love the back light effect on the petals, however I would now use photoshop to lighten up the shadows to get more detail.
Sharon,
Nice concept and I agree with Mike that it would be better to get more detail in the shadows. You might pick up a 5 in 1 multi disc which can serve as a diffuser as well as 4 different colors of reflectors. That would have been a option to get more light on the shadowed part in the front, while still having the back light on the petals.

I love this idea! I have seen (and photographed) a lot of daffodils but this is certainly a different image! I like the contrast between the bright outer petals and the dark background. The backlighting works well, but I agree that I would try the same photo with a reflector to brighten up the center of the flower.

Thank you all for your comments and suggestions! I will look to getting a 5 in 1 multi disc as was recommended. I am pretty new to this, and other than getting a new lens and a circular polarizer, I have no accessories. Does anyone have any recommendations or warnings when I go to get the 5 in 1? I don't want to be talked into something I don't need simply because I don't know what I'm looking for. I'm shooting with a Nikon D50.
