Took a grieving dog for a wonder in the dales yesterday, a thin layer of snow on the tops. This tree is fairly commonly photographed, its near a tiny village of Coniston going towards Kettlewell.
C & C welcome.

I like this Tim - nice one :toast:

Really does work well in B&W :wavey:

Did you have the D3 in DXcrop for this Tim?

Hi Andy it's in FX so the full 12mp's.

Hi Dave I'm a fan of the Tokina, it's really a DX (1.5x crop) lens though so I was pleasantly surprised I could use it on the full frame D3. It is very sharp, perhaps prone to chromatic abberation but that's no big deal now with in camera software and post processing software.

Tim,

lovely landscape, a little different (almost has an IR quality), any filtering or PP to get the sun "starburst" or is just a lens artifact?

Hi Tim

Lovely image, I like the monochrome/infra red feel to the image, I like B&W landscapes. Good composition with the sun placed well in the frame.

cheers

Hi John,
The sunburst was a trick I learnt from Guy Edwards this year, just a matter of a very small aperture (f/22 in this case) the number of diaphragms dictating the rays I guess, apparently some lenses are better than others.

Hi Tim,

I think this works superbly in black and white and the starburst is the icing on the cake.
