Wrong time of the year for such photos, but then again, its the wrong time of the year for snow. This one was taken over the weekend at richmond park. I'm calling it a fallow but i could be mistaken as i've only ever shot red deer there...
Yes that is a fallow buck alright. I think the picture is lacking a little contrast and is perhaps a bit light but has plenty of potential. Everyone seems to have been lucky with the snow, it lasted all of 20 minutes down here.
All the best

Robert, it lacks contrast due to the heavy snow fall between me and the subject. Its really obvious when on a large print as this was shot at f13. I tried increasing contrast in PS and it just looked different to what i had intended.
Jack, the main reason i haven't been posting much is because up until 2 weeks ago, the longest lens i have with me by my side was a 70-200. I left all the big toys in singapore to allow me to concentrate more on work proper but the snow on sunday was just too much to resist and i decided that the crap quality of a 2x was still better than nothing at all.

The muted contrast fits well with the scene, and as you rightly say, shooting in heavy snow does have this effect.
