I have been lurking in the shadows for some time now, enjoying the posts and images from the more regular members here. I assume that the only way I am going to become a better landscape photographer is to post images and let you critique them.
I made the image on Saturday. Not sure if the location has a name but it is the run-off located on the road down to Camp Orr.
This is the creek that forms Triple Falls, and the Slot Canyon Falls too - and is always a good indicator of how those are running below - when it looks like this, you can find some great stuff below! (private property from the road down to the Slot Canyon area though so approach from below) And this spot always has the nice green moss like you have captured here. The bench this cascade runs across also has a great many wildflowers, which are peaking right now, including one of the largest concentrations of Dutchman's Breeches in the state.
Hey Clayton - where did you hide that bottle of Crown Royal? We were forced to consume Gentleman's Jack this weekend since you were not there!
Yup, to get to Slot Canyon Falls you do need to come up from Triple Falls, or what I do is normally just hike along the BRT until I come to Shop Creek then hike upstream from there. Once you get to the mouth of the canyon you are in for trouble - it is a tough and very slick climb up into the slot canyon, but it twists and turns and is just wonderful. To reach the waterfall you have to climb up onto a large boulder that is blocking the canyon. The floor and walls are so slick that you need a pair of felt-soled wading shoes, otherwise you will probably just slip and slide and never get anywhere - it is a dangerous spot and right on the border between park service and private property so I never recommend anyone go up in there, but it is nice if you survive.
Yup, I don't critique photos on this forum - I know lots of folks use it as a critique location but there are many other areas for that - I prefer to use the forum as an information exchange for regional photogs. I can only say that this photo looks like you've been to a few photo workshops before!

Welcome Clayton, glad you decided to chime in! It sounds like you may already know some of the gang from down Arkansas way so you must not be a novice. And from the looks of this shot I don't think you're going to need to much in the way of critiques.
Perfectly exposed, no blown highlights and no clipped shadows. Nice composition, even light and very sharp. Not bad for a first post (but I suspect you've taken a few shots before)!
Glad you could join us ... and don't forget the CSNP Spring Gathering is in less than three weeks. We'd love to have you join us!
A beautiful first post, Clayton - welcome to the forum. I think I would have to echo Wayne's critique of this image, and add that you've done a great job with the processing.
I've also noticed this little cascade after a big rain, and have even stopped to get a few shots. None were as nice as this. Keep up the good work!

You know I don’t take open liquor bottles through Madison County. One of the other students must have absconded with it.
I know you are too kind to critique photos so I will patiently wait the others here to let me know what I need to do differently.
