To me, this is a very compelling image, Roger, and I like it a lot. As Kalin said, it has the feeling of expectation. I might crop some off the top, bottom and left side, then remove the two small "globs" of snow on the left. The simplicity of the single paw print and the pleasing, contrasting colors make this a lovely image. I can see this made up as a unique and interesting logo for a nature photographer.

I like it but wish the paw print was not so dead center.

I have a dial-up connection. Your image slowly appears from the top down.
As it appeared I saw the snow at the top as having an eye and looking down, threatening something. My mind saw the first small glob of snow on the left as another eye. So I kept trying to see a positive/negative yin/yang image of a coyote.
The paw print surprised me. The image went from abstract to real life. I was left wondering if the coyote’s track was disappearing like the globs of snow aligned with it.
You gotta keep at least one of those blobs of snow for a balanced Yin/Yang thing. i like the simplicity of the shot.

I like this image, but I don't think the web is doing it any favors. I want to zoom in and see the detail, or be able to get closer to a print. Maybe for displaying it on the web, a cropped image would satisfy this urge I'm feeling.
Good image!

Nice shot. I really like the colors and the details. As suggested, a tighter crop might really bring the coyote print out.

Thanks for the thoughts! This version maybe includes some of the suggestions. I hope not to get to the point where I start to see everything as though it was through the camera lens. But enjoy the excersize of taking photos to sharpen attentions to little designs and details that I might otherwise walk past without notice.

I didn't comment before, but I find this composition to be very appealing. Nicely done Roger.
Very cool, Roger. I like the 2nd comp better. I keep thinking if the rock were a little more vibrant, it would have that much more impact; maybe some selective dodging and burning? Either way - very nice.
