Yellow Wagtail
Canon EOS 1D MKII, 600mm F4 IS, 1.4x conv, f8, 1/640, ISO 640, RAW, RSE, CS2. Bean bag on car window ledge, slight crop for comp.

Hi All,

Had an early start this morning, out at first light and just as the sun come over the horizon I spotted this stunning looking fella, first time I have seen a Yellow Wag, let alone got images of one, much more jumpy than Pied. Also got some of my best shots of Corn Bunts, very very vocal at first light and they sat still for a change. No sign of the Stonechats though, I think they have moved on now :frown:

All comments welcome

Regards

Very nice Rob

It's that time of year when these fellows pass through, and unfortunately fewer seem to stay to breed in the UK every passing year, certainly a very rare breeding bird in Berkshire now when 20 years ago it was a fairly common breeding bird on our wet meadows

Minor nit there are a few sharpening halos evident

Its a super shot Rob, and set against a different bg from when i used to see them regulary, which shows the bird off nicely :toast:

I have similar memories to Mike, as these were very common along the outskirts of London {especially along the Thames on the Kent border}, many years ago.

Haven't seen one since :frown: , but they are a handsome bird!!

Hello.

I like this. Great colour and sharpness. I'll be keeping a look out for returning breeders here in mid-suff.

You shot from you car window. Is it a small lego car? Angle is good and low.

Great shot of a beautiful bird. I really like the contrast between subject and background.

I too have only seen one of these once, at Elmley.
