Hi,
I am still trying to clean my tripod and it looks as though I have to take the centre column aperture setting out before I can access the screws that lock the legs in.
This may seem like a daft question, but does anyone have an idea how to do this because I don't want to wrench the thing apart and then find it won't go back together.
TIA.
Chris.

Hi Chris,
Not entirely sure what you mean, but would making the legs go out flat enable you to get to the screws? Or what about using compressed air to clean inside?
Where have you been to get your tripod so grubby??!!!

If I remember correctly the centre column can be removed by unscrewing the black end cap below the strap hanger. This removes the long bottom spindle with the strap hanger that otherwise would prevent the whole column sliding out through the head.
Then release the head clamp and slide out the top half of the centre column.
This then gives you access to 3 hex headed screws on top of the head, undo these and the head will come apart allowing access to the leg pivots.
Hope this helps

Hi Again,
Thinking about this a bit more there is another stage, having removed both parts of the centre column, you are still left with a sort of hub assembly that goes through the head (or section that the legs are attached to), I think this is released by completely removing the wing nut on the side of the head and then lifting clear, it actually splits in two once removed and there is a plastic washer holding the 2 parts together so be careful
Once this is completed you have access to the three hex screws mentioned above.
Cheers

Hi Everyone,
Thanks to all that have replied.
I have since managed to get the tripod apart to clean it. It involved some giggory pokery with an allen key in a small slot, opposite where the tripod's spirit level is. This released the large rounded collar on top of the tripod and allowed access to the legs.
