Taken up on the Central Coast in Washington State
This was a Root system from a tree that had washed up on shore....I am guessing it was not out at sea for any amount of time based on the lack of sealife on it....
Camera: Nikon D300
Exposure: 31 sec (31)
Aperture: f/10
Focal Length: 22 mm
ISO Speed: 100

love the colors, especially the purples. You might want to darken that sun spot on the right center, my eye is drawn right to it.

Striking silhouette, Darren, and not just a little bit creepy feeling. That's OK, feelings are good, beats feeling nothing about someone's work. Personally, I think the "hot spot" is perfect and I wouldn't touch it.

It's a beaut, Darren. I also like the hot spot as you've got it and the colors are great although they feel a bit too intense to me.

Saturation/color is a bit strong/unnatural for me. You might try to pull some detail out of the LRC to emphasize the tree using both sides. Very interesting subject.

I really like it, Darren - good job..

Hi Darren, Great shot!
Marc said he thought the color was too much, but I disagree, I think they are just fine. (Might be because I'm used to looking at Nikon colors, though.)
I do agree the LRC could use some work maybe for balance.

Very unique silhouette shot Darren. I like it a lot. The colors in the sky are just right IMO. If any desaturation is done I'd only do it below the horizon. The sky does seem to have a fair amount of Noise for 100 ISO. Did you have Long exp. NR turned on?

It's cool but the big dark area on the bottom right is a problem.

Thanks for the comments everyone....I agree that maybe I could bring out a bit more detail in the LRC but it's not something I am gonna do right now....
Re: Noise - I do not use any NR tools as I only see them as softening the image...on the master file there is no noise, I think it's because of the small compressed JPEG!
Thanks again everyone!

I love the colors here Darren. I wish there was a tad more to see in the lower right, but it's a wall hanger if you ask me.
