Red Squirrel, take 2 + Repost
Here's my 1st Red

Taken yesterday at Formby on my outing with Andy A. Thanks for the company Andy & thanks to all for the info on the place and where best to walk.

Canon 1dmk3
EF300mm F2.8
ISO 400
F4.5
1/800sec
C1 4 + CS3

I have to say Im becoming very disappointed in the mk3. Its been back to Canon for the "fix" and is up to date with the firmware, But the amount of missed focus is very very worrying. Having been lucky enough to have used the Canon 1 series from the start (and I'm sure its not me!) i've never had so many out of focus shots!
I leave for a very quick trip to Africa on Tuesday and i think i will take a 1dsmk2 as i know that works!!!!!!!!
This is one of the few images i was happy with.

Wasn't he just an absolute star Kevin

I know we both got this shot and I think it's my fav one from the morning :toast:

I've cropped mine a bit on the right to give him a bit more offset.

Sorry about your focus woes mate - you're not alone though as a lot of mine are a bit off too - I think I'd take the alternate to Africa too, but please don't get this close to those beasties out there!

Have fun matey :wavey: :wavey:

Just looked at this image again this morning and have now taken some of the red cast out in CS3. Looks better to me??

thanks Kev

Looks plenty sharp to me Kevin, although i'm aware that some users have real problems.

Fine shot, in my book, and feel it would also work nicely as a square crop {removing the dark area on the LHS}

Hi Kevin,

Very nice capture! I agree with Alan that a square crop could work well with this shot!

Not so much a square as just take off the left handside slightly and it will get rid of the dark band. Just hold a piece of card up to the screen Kevin and it will give you a better idea. :toast:
