I ran out of the house without my tripod this morning, so I stuck around to meet Roman and Phil, and then I was going to bag it and go home.

The more I thought about it, the more I hated to completely waste a 3:30 wake-up and the gas I burned getting there. So I decided to try to make my Guarilla Pod work. It would have been ok if i'd had a ball head to put on it, but as it was, it wasn't flexible enough, nor tall enough, so I ended up hand holding the camera most of the time.

I'm glad I stuck around because I had a great time. It is nice to hand hold the camera once in a while and just play. I didn't really get much, but this one seemed a reasonable result. The sky sucks, so I cropped most of it out, along with a bunch of skragley flowers in the FG.

300D, Tamron 17-50 @ 17mm, 1/250sec @ f16, ISO 400, handheld, cropped all four sides.

Thanks for looking and commenting.

Is this balloon thing a regular occurrence up there?

Very nice Curtis! This shot shouts with color and Spring time! Not bad for handholding these. ISO400 looks really good with the D300. It looks like a nice upgrade from the 300D. Or was that just a letter 'D' reversal?

DOH! it's the 300D (edited post to correct the typo)

Thanks Derek!

Well for a day that didn't go as planned I'd say this is a successful image! I think it's useful to go without a tripod sometimes just to open one's eyes in a different way.

My only nit is there is a bit of a halo on top of that left balloon. Other than that This works just fine!

Well done Curtis!!

Thanks for the comments!
I like this one, but the more I look at it the less inclined I am to print it. I might recrop it to a screensaver/wallpaper size though. The sky is just too bland.

Quite nice Curtis...with a little color correction you might want to reconsider not printing it.

All the elements are there.
