Hiya Ian, nice 'singer' but the point of focus looks out to me. Looks focused on the top foreground buds.

Its a lovely shot Ian,

Ive had to look at this a few times, as my first thoughts echoed Roberts.

There does seem to be some variations in focus, although i don't know if this was shot through glass {which may explain it}.

I also felt the top leaf bud was the optimum focus point, although the small area towards the top of the primaries are also sharp................with the area in between {nearside of breast} lacking in well-defined detail.

Always difficult to judge the exact orientation of a birds position along the focal plane, with an extreme FL's compressed 'look', so possibly the head is very close to prime focus.

I guess if some noise reduction was used, uneven removal can result in a similar look though.

If it is simply a NR thing, it would definately be worth another try, from the original.

Nice singing bird, BG and perch, but as mentioned the subject is looking a little blurry.

Thanks for the comments. Wasn't shot through glass, Alan. I think it is a focus issue. There was a little noise reduction to the BG, but not the bird or perch. Shutter speed wasn't very high either, and he was vibrating with song, so possibly motion blur too. No doubt he'll come back!

Still a nice shot though.

Nice shot! Agree with what's already been said about the softness, but great background and perch. Lovely colours. Hope he comes back for ya!!! :toast:

The little thing is singing his heart out. Hope you can sort out the focus issue.
