Hi all, I will be visiting South Carolina this coming weekend. April 19-22st, staying in the Hilton Head area. This is my first visit, I live in Kansas so I am really look forward to this wonderful area of the country.
I would like to ask for some advice on photo opportunities around the Hilton Head area, I guess I need to narrow it down so I don't become to overwhelmed. Probably no more than a 30 minute drive any direction. My interest is mostly in landscape but any and all nature subjects would be wonderful. Needless to say the ocean sunrise, and Sunday nights full moon will be high on my list.
Thanks all in advance for any help you may able to give.

Hey Brad,

On HHI, there is the Sea Pines Forest Preserve:

Just off the island is the Pinckney Island National Wildlife Refuge:

And, about 30 minutes form HH is Hunting Island:

Hope this helps,

If you want a quiet beach area on Hilton Head, check out Folly Field Beach on the island. There is a public access to the beach from one of the side roads. This is a residential area so it shouldn't be very crowded. Google "Folly Field Road Hilton Head Is SC" in Google Maps and you'll find it. This sunrise image was taken there:

Have fun, Hilton Head is a great place!

Try to get in boat and shoot the dolphins. They are very approachable. Used to be some dolphin watching charters in low pontoon boats, great for shooting. Several lighthouses in the area. Also Donnely WMA about 1 hr drive. If you have time get a copy of the Falcon Guide called Scenic Driving South Carolina. This is one of the best guides for photo opputunities. - SandyLee
