Spider In Web
I haven't posted in a while and since it is 36 with snow flurries today - I went back through some old shots and found this one from July '07.

20D 100 @ 5.6, ISO 200, 28-135 @ 135

Very good one, Merle. Excellent background, very well defined web, and the spider in the middle to really nail down the whole composition.

Thank you all for your very kind comments. The green background was due to the web being on the fence of the pasture behind our property. The pasture grass gave me a good oof area for the shot.

Nice shot Merle. The captured bugs and the holes in the web add to story this photo tells.

Very nice shot Merle. I really like the background and well defined web.

This guy looks like a relative of the one I walked face first into when out shooting in the vineyards one day. I was looking for one last good cluster of grapes on the vine and just as I turned my head back to front I walked right into an orb weavers web!

Of course I instinctively jerked my head ... started swiping at my face to brush the spider off ... all without dropping my camera mounted tripod! When my heart stopped racing I realized I couldn't see any more, my glasses went flying when I jerked my head around.

I got in touch with my son and a friend of his and the three of us looked around for about 45 minutes, no luck finding them.

Then my photo buddy (Sinbad, black lab) showed up and my son said "Sinbad, find my dad's glasses". Off he went into the rows and we didn't think much about it. I'll wrap this story up by saying that not five minutes passed and here came Sinbad with my glasses softly clutched in his mouth ... in perfect condition!

This story has been told many a times around the vineyard ... and it's all true!

O.K. Wayne - - -Does the fact that you were shooting in the "VINEYARDS" have anything to do with you losing your glasses and coming up with this story about the dog finding them ?? Inquiring minds want to know...
