Birch #3
I would like some feedback on this. Got it the other day at the UW Arboretum. I cranked the reds and the yellow a bit and don't know if I got carried away or not. Any comments on that or anything else about what you think of this one are welcome.
Thanks

I was going to say... it's surprising the color one sees up close, but then I read on. Maybe it's over the top; what kind of Birch, etc. is it? BTW, I like your comp although I feel like something is missing from the bottom.

The colors are certainly interesting - almost into the photo art category. I like the focus on the two flakes of bark, but it might help to crop out the top portion of the image - top quarter? That knot at the top pulls my eye away from the main focus of the image. Good eye for interesting details, Jeff!

I think you accomplished a very good portrayal of the birch tree's bark and got a great design out of it. Imho, the color is way too much. The birches have a more subtle elegance in the colors, I think. Keep the contrast, but reduce the saturation? Tone down the bright whites a little? Hopefully repost it!

And welcome to NPN, too! Perhaps will see you around the Arboretum sometime…

I don't know birch bark well, so I'm actually enjoying the colors. (Tom's idea about photo art?) My only suggestion would be to trim a little off the left so the flakes are centered. Welcome, hope to see more!
