Coming into SLC on Thursday night and driving in to Moab on Friday morning. I've read a lot of great info here on sites to photograph and have seen some excellent images as well. Now I just need some wildflowers to bloom and need some information on where to see some. Staying in Moab as a base to work from, so they need to be in the general driving range for me to capture. Any help guys?

Jeffrey,
I was out there this past weekend. We saw a number of small flowers blooming, and many of the trees are leafing out, but there were no major blooms to speak of. Things are getting better by the day though.

Same report here... I was traveling between Moab and Capitol Reef and there was not much in the way of flowers yet. Most of what I saw was something purple and in the Pea family. The rest of what I saw was white and in the Pea family...

Some orchards are in bloom, many of the trees are leafing out, and the tamarisk is beginning to green up. The Mormon Tea is really green already, but most of the desert plants are just starting to awaken it seems.

No wildflowers to speak of aside from the aforementioned purple and white ones. I'm heading out on Friday, and possibly this weekend, and will let ya'll know when they're lookin' good.

On a (slightly) more technical note, the purple were some kind of Vetch, though one with reasonably large flowers; this particular Vetch is pretty enough to include in shots, if you can find a dense enough patch of it. The white were probably Milkvetch of some sort.

Here's to a rapid bloom to liven up your trip!
