Dutchman's Breeches
Shot these this morning, the wildflowers just started to explode at the end of last week and then we get slammed with this cold front, the cold hasn't been the issue as much as the wind, the winds have been pretty steady since last Friday and are finally starting to let up today.

Hopefully over the next couple of days I can get a few images and then I may try a short trip to the Smokies for the weekend, thanks for looking !! :wavey:

I really like the white against the dark green. Very nice detail and comp. What's the usual habitat for these flowers?

Nice shot Bernie. Picky point - I do wish the green filled the frame....

Chuck - I've seen these little beauties in all sorts of places, pretty much always in hardwood forest areas. The grow on the ground, on rocks and cliffs, anywhere they can find enough soil and whatever the right microclimate is. I have to believe they occur somewhere in Cuyahoga......I've seen them from the Smokies to northern lower Michigan.

I like it alot, Bernie.I've never seen this flower before. As Chuck asked, where do these usually grow?
They really look like suspended cartoon glove hands.Cool.

It must be nice. I still have snow on the ground. Beautiful shot.

I've always loved Dutchman's Breeches/Britches - they're one of my favorite spring flowers, along with trilliums...

I'll be getting my own photos of these in a few weeks!

Tim!

Nice capture, Bernie. I think I'd favor a slight crop from the right...not so much as to bullseye the flowers, but enough to keep my eye from drifting away ever so slightly from the main subject.

I like it as-is, the dark background adds a sense of mystery and contrasts well with the flowers. Nice!

Thanks for all the comments guys..

Chuck.. I have been finding these by the hundreds this year, usually on slopes and hillsides in deep rich soil.

CJ..I did actually get a few that had the frame filled with more stems and leaves.
